IARU REGION 3 MONITORING SYSTEMS NEWSLETTER. MARCH 2001. The 20 metre amateur radio band is a wide stage for every kind of broadcast spurious/harmonics to be noted on a regular basis, mostly coming from Far Eastern Region and Indonesia. Japanese Monitors have been reporting DPR-Korea on 14025,14080,14100,14125,14129,14155,14250 and 14280 kHz. Monitors from Australia/New Zealand report Chinese transmissions on 14210, DPR-Korea on 14220 and 14280 KHz. Occasionally from Region 2, we hear about the spurious/harmonic products of Voice of America transmitters from the Philippines , the recent one being an inter modulation product on 14215 kHz between 19 and 20 Hrs UTC. The same 20 mb, is the area where several M7B/F7B- VFT transmissions are frequently reported with 8 or 16 channels. Several fishing trawlers of East Coast region of Indian sub continent and Sri Lanka are very active in USB with personal traffic. 40 mb is going strong with Voice of Sharia (7085), Voice of Broad Masses(7100),Voice of Mujahideen (7070) and the hide and seek wobble jammers from Middle East. Of course, many Indonesians can be found too. The single letter Russian beacons have come back from their hibernation for Summer activity. 18 and 21 MHz bands also have quite a few harmonic/spurious products. News from Region 1: Brothers of Charity were QRV on 14025,21005,21050,21143,21333 kHz. TJ4P from Cameroon was heard with traffic on 21000 USB. At 2000 Hrs UTC. Other regulars heard were: 7100 IRIB-Iran,7070 VoMujahideen,7039 C,F,S Beacons,wobble jammers, NATO OTHR on 21 and 28 MHz bands.
